Before the spin-off of Active Alpha, Michael Uebersax was Head of Trading at Horizon21 Active Alpha. He joined Horizon21 in May 2008 and was the key figure behind the launch of AA Equity. He also was the Portfolio Manager of the equity derivatives strategy within this fund.

Previously, Michael Uebersax was a Managing Director at UBS where he worked for more than 15 years. In 2001, he became responsible for the US equity derivatives trading desk in London. He played a key role in linking the US with the European equity trading business, utilizing his considerable network within UBS Investment Bank. Michael Uebersax moved to London in 1996 as a trader of the Dutch and Spanish equity and equity derivatives books. In this role he developed his skills as a cash trader which included initiating and managing proprietary trading positions. He began his career in 1993 as a junior trader with UBS (formerly SBC) in Zurich, working as a market maker for equity derivatives. In this position, he gained four years of experience in trading index products and managing the risk on a daily basis.

He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and he is a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA).
