Before the spin-off of Active Alpha, Martin Thuma was a Portfolio Manager for equity long/short trading at Horizon21 Active Alpha. In 2003, he joined Man Investments (formerly RMF) as an Execution Trader for its proprietary hedge funds and in 2004 moved to Horizon21 when the management of those funds was taken over by Horizon21. In this position, Martin Thuma has gained substantial experience in trading equities, equity derivatives, commodities, FX as well as various other instruments.

Previously, Martin Thuma was part of the Foreign Equity Trading team of Bank Leu in Zurich where he traded global equities, including emerging markets, and gained experience in global equity futures and options trading. Before joining Bank Leu in 2001, he was at Credit Suisse in the Middle Office and Execution team for mutual and hedge funds where he started his career in 2000.

He holds a degree from the KV Business School in Uzwil, Switzerland.
